چکیده

Ductile polymers have been increasingly applied in engineering applications to enhance the structural reliability under impact loading . Due limitation of experimental setup achieve large tensile deformation and difficulty dynamic force equilibrium, localization post-necking stages up fracture ductile at high strain rates less investigated. In present work, polymeric rods is studied on bespoke Hopkinson tension bar synchronized with a high-speed camera. Transparent polycarbonate (PC) used as model material study. Likewise, constitutive response behaviour are also characterized assistance Digital Image Correction (DIC) from low various temperature conditions. The results quantitatively show that local rate initially increases dramatically 200 % nominal due localization. This followed by rapid drop necking propagation, finally tends stay approximately 20 until fracture. elevated temperatures would result higher rates. Two models without consideration constant condition constructed for PC incorporated finite element simulations trend history respect successfully reproduced simulations. particularly simple amplification model, able reflect phenomenological key features experimentally observed macroscopic responses polycarbonate, find their potential resistant transparency design. • location monitored successfully. twice during necking, drops five times lower than Dynamic rod not apparently dependent corresponding conditions

Strain Localization in Ductile Single Crystals?

THIS PAPER is concerned with an analysis of strain localization in ductile crystals deforming by single slip. The plastic flow is modelled as rate-insensitive, and localization, viewed as a bifurcation from a homogeneous deformation mode to one which is concentrated in a narrow ‘shear band’, is found to be. possible only when the plastic hardening modulus for the slip system has fallen to a cer...

A New Approach for Stress State - Dependent Flow Localization Failure Bounded Through Ductile Damage in Dynamically Loaded Sheets

In this paper, a new approach is proposed for stress state - dependent flow localization in bifurcation failure model bounded through ductile damage in dynamically loaded sheets. Onset of localized necking is considered in phenomenological way for different strain rates to draw the forming limit diagram (FLD). Using a strain metal hardening exponent in the Vertex theory related to the strain ra...

A rate‐ and state‐dependent ductile flow law of polycrystalline halite under large shear strain and implications for transition to brittle deformation

[1] We have conducted double‐shear biaxial deformation experiments in layers of NaCl within its fully‐plastic (FP) regime up to large shear strains (g < 50) with velocity steps. From this, we have empirically formulated a rate‐ and state‐dependent flow law which explains the transient mechanical behavior. The steady state flow stress in the FP regime can be explained by a power‐law with a stres...

Strain Localization and Shear Band Propagation in Ductile Materials

*Correspondence: Davide Bigoni , via Mesiano 77, Trento I-38123, Italy e-mail: [email protected] A model of a shear band as a zero-thickness non-linear interface is proposed and tested using finite element simulations. An imperfection approach is used in this model where a shear band that is assumed to lie in a ductile matrix material (obeying von Mises plasticity with linear hardening), is p...
